I don't trust Google or Bing or any of the big search providers (especially Alibaba). after watching the documentary "The Social Dilemma" i have serious concerns about 'big tech' manipulating and controlling search results and user opinions.
Many people are unaware that Google, Bing, and other search engines adjust their results in response to the person conducting the search. That’s right. Search engine results actually vary according to the location, previous search history, and other factors unique to the person doing the searching. As a result, search results often yield inconsistent results.
sidenote: i have several gmail accounts for different requirements. I ALWAYS log out of my gmail accounts i think this is vital, as i think that Google tracks every search you do and compiles data and usage trends so that they can target you. by signing out of your gmail account, tracking you is not possible.
i started using Startpage a while ago and i hope it's a secure search platform.

maybe i'm just a paranoid user that wants to remain a "ghost" on the net.
like the guy said in the documentary, the term "user" is applied to social media and drugs.....
"Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are going in this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities -- the political, the religious, the educational authorities --- who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing -- forming in our minds -- their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable open-mindedness, chaotic, confused vulnerability to inform yourself."
