Hello hemi426
I do not understand how to complete the poll. Probably my clumsiness. I therefore respond in this way to this interesting and also difficult subject.
For years I use occasionally - if there is a reason - TunnelBear as VPN. After listening last year to a podcast (see the link below) I also started using Proton. Both (free) versions have thier limitations but they work OK for me.
There has been a huge growth in VPN services in recent years. It is quite an operation to distinguish the good from the bad. Fortunately, one of the most outrageous VPN services stopped on 6 May 2019, making the world a little safer again: Protect Free VPN + Data Manager from the Israeli company Onavo(*), which Facebook purchased, after which it was used to collect data from users about their behavior on the internet on their smartphones. With this, Mr. Zuckerberg showed his true (dangerous) face and way of working to increase his market position (is power).
When thinking about whether or not to use VPN and which to choose, we can indeed drown in an overwhelming amount of information. When it comes to privacy and security, I prefer to consult multiple sources, usually starting at https://www.privacytools.io/
(click through to - providers - vpn).

I also found this podcast interesting: https://slate.com/technology/2019/03/vpn-use-and-trust-what-you-should-know.html
Best wishes to all readers of this and a safe stay on the web 🙂.
